Om Puri The Versatile and Celebrated Actor is No More
The most talented and flexible actor of Bollywood, Om Puri dies due to cardiac arrest at the age of 66. He hailed from the city of Punjab, Ambala. Om Puri was not just an actor but a scholar too. He graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. Till today, he has acted in more than 250 films in the span of four decades. Om Puri debuted in a Marathi film based on Vijay Tendulkar play called GhashiramKotwal in 1976. Since then he rose to popularity with his iconic roles in films like ArdhSatya, JaaneBhi Do Yaaro, Aakrosh and Paar. The Padmashri Awardee also went ahead and did bilingual films. He has been a noted star in Hollywood as well with his films like East is East, The Parole Officer, The Ghost and the Darkness to name a few. One thing that we all don’t know about him is his personal life. He has been married twice and has a son with his wife, NanditaPuri who is a journalist. She also wrote a biography called Unlikely Hero: The Story of Om Puri in 2009. With such remarkable journey, Om Puri’s contribution to the industry will always be remembered. R.I.P.
