Screening of film Nanak Shah Fakir suspended for two months
Following the resentment against the Punjabi film ‘Nanak Shah Fakir’ among the Sikh masses, the Punjab government today decided to suspend its screening with immediate effect in the region for next two months. In between it would be deemed to be uncertified in the state during this period. It had been perceived that it was hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikh community  following the protests and demonstrations in various parts of the region. According to the spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s office the government has decided to suspend all screening, distribution and viewing of the film for two month.He said that  the government has exercised the powers conferred upon it by sub-section (1) of Section 6 of Punjab Cinemas Act 1952.
 The director of the film was not available for the comment till the filing of the report.
