Same choreographer for Umrao Jaan and Jaanisaar
The multi-faceted personality Pernia Qureshi, who’s also known as a celebrated entrepreneur-stylist-designer-dancer, will be making her big Bollywood debut this year with Jaanisaar produced and directed by Muzaffar Ali. Pernia will be seen playing a courtesan in the period drama set in the 1800s opposite Imran Abbas of Creature 3D fame.
Pernia recently shot for a special dance sequence and what’s special about this classical number is the fact that it’s choreographed by Guru Kumudini Lakhia, the same choreographer who worked on the classic dance number featuring Rekha in Umrao Jaan.
The makers of Jaanisaar shot Nigaahon Ne Maara Teri Kateeli in Delhi. “It was an amazing experience shooting for a song of the same genre after almost 20 years. Shooting and directing yet another song which carries with itself a similar kind of tradition, aesthetic and flavour for Jaanisaar will always be a memorable experience,” informs Kumudini.
Pernia says, “The experience of shooting this song was wonderful. Lakhia has choreographed it beautifully. It’s been an honour to train under someone like her. It was the best possible note to end the shooting of my debut movie on.”
