Namo Cricket League Finals Begin Today, 32 Winning Teams to Battle for Title
Process initiated to enter the league in Guinness World Records; winners to receive ₹21 lakh
Chandigarh, September 28: The final matches of the Namo Cricket League will begin on Monday at Tau Devi Lal Cricket Stadium in Sector 3, Panchkula.
The tournament, being held from September 28 to October 4, will see 32 winning teams selected from different districts compete for the coveted title.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will inaugurate the tournament, while renowned Punjabi singer Kanwar Grewal will perform on the opening day.
Sanjeev Sood, a member of the Sudesh Bhandari Charitable Trust committee, said the tournament is being organised through the efforts of Trust Chairman and Chief Minister’s Political Secretary Tarun Bhandari.
Of the 92 teams that participated from Panchkula district, the team from Billa village emerged victorious and secured a place among the final 32.
Aim to Keep Youth Away from Drugs, Connect Them with Sports
According to the organisers, the primary objective of the league is to keep youngsters away from drugs and encourage them to take up sports.
Around 3,400 teams and 55,000 players have participated in the league. Nearly 90 per cent of the district- and zonal-level matches across Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand have already been completed.
₹21 Lakh for Winners, ₹11 Lakh for Runners-up
The winning team will receive a cash prize of ₹21 lakh, while the runners-up will get ₹11 lakh.
The teams finishing third and fourth will receive ₹5 lakh and ₹2.5 lakh, respectively. The Player of the Series will be presented with an electric vehicle, motorcycle, laptop and other prizes.
The organisers said the Namo Cricket League is being projected as the world’s largest cricket league and that the process of seeking its entry into the Guinness World Records has been initiated.
