Movie Review : It happens once in a while that a Punjabi film is able to dominate any Hindi film. It happened this week when the queues to buy tickets for Punjabi flick Angrej were more in comparison to Ajay Devgan starrer ‘Drishyam’.
Angrej is a film that is set in 1945 rural India. It is an innocent love story  written by (Also Screenplay Dialogues) Amberdeep Singh and impressively directed by Simerjit Singh. The film that was shot in Suratgarh in Rajasthan is presented by Dara Productions, J Studio and Aman Khatkar, Arsara Films in collaboration with A Rhythm Boys Entertainment. It stars singer turned actor Amrinder Gill, Binnu Dhillon, Sardar Sohi and Anita Devgan which were at their best. It also presents singer Ammy Virk, Bollywood actor Aditi Sharma and television actor Sargun Mehta who are debuting with this film.
The high point of the film is sets, props, dresses, language, dialogues and all other small things have been taken care about. It definately reminds of old times as some might have seen it or may have heard from their elders.
No doubt Amrinder Gill has improved a lot and worked hard to get into the character after his film Goreyan Nu Daffa Karo. His sweet innocent face and dialogue delivery will definately make the audience fall in love with him. As far as newcomers Aditi and Sargun are concerned they have lived upto the mark. It seems that the characters were actually written for them only. While Ammy Virk too fitted the bill well. But he still needs to work little more on his acting and hope he gets better with the next film. Overall all the artists have been used fully this time.
Music by Jatinder Shah goes with the flow and is hummable.
The film is able to take the audience back to the pre-independence era which makes it  worth watching as one would be able to feel the love of that time that was not too easy just like today.
With this film Pollywood is seeing the hope of new light and producers and directors would love to experiment with different subjects.
