Tricity to Run Alongside Saina Nehwal as Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria Set to Flag Off Marathon From Chandigarh

Saina Nehwal will join the SK Tricity Marathon in Chandigarh on September 27, promoting fitness and digital safety.
Chandigarh: The Tricity is all set to run for fitness and digital safety on September 27, as the SK Tricity Marathon – Chandigarh Edition brings together runners, fitness enthusiasts and a strong public-awareness message.
Olympic medallist and former world No. 1 badminton player Saina Nehwal will be among the special guests at the event. Chandigarh Mayor Saurabh Joshi will also attend the marathon as a special guest.
The event is being organised by Sanskriti Yuva Sanstha and IIEMR – Indian Institute of Event Management, with the support of SK Finance.
Saina Nehwal to Join the Tricity Run
Saina Nehwal is one of India’s most successful badminton players. She won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics and became the first Indian woman badminton player to reach the No. 1 position in the world rankings.
She has also won a silver medal at the 2015 World Championships, a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games and several international titles.
Her presence at the SK Tricity Marathon is expected to add a strong sporting appeal to the event and encourage people to focus on fitness and an active lifestyle.
Marathon Carries a Digital Safety Message
This year’s marathon is not only about running.
The event is being organised with the message “Run for Safe Digital Bharat”, with a focus on creating awareness about online fraud, digital scams and cybercrime.
The campaign aims to reach people across Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.
The organisers want participants to understand that staying healthy requires regular physical activity, while staying safe online requires awareness and caution.
Gulab Chand Kataria to Flag Off the Marathon
Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria has agreed to flag off the marathon, according to the organisers.
Chandigarh Mayor Saurabh Joshi will also be present at the event as a special guest.
Organiser Mukesh Mishra said the marathon aims to combine fitness with an important social message.
He said digital fraud can affect people from different age groups and backgrounds. Therefore, creating awareness about online safety has become important for everyone.
Three Running Categories
The SK Tricity Marathon will feature three different running categories:
- 3 KM Run
- 10 KM Run
- 21.097 KM Half Marathon
The categories are designed to encourage participation from different age groups and fitness levels.
Children, young people, senior citizens and fitness enthusiasts can take part according to their individual abilities.
More Than Just a Running Event
The organisers are positioning the marathon as more than a sporting event.
Participants and members of the public will also be encouraged to learn about cyber fraud, online scams, digital crimes and safe digital practices.
The campaign aims to deliver a simple message: run for better health and stay alert for a safer digital life.

Deepak Sharma, Executive President of Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha and associated with the event, said cybercrime has become a major challenge in the digital age.
