MERA PIND 360 Foundation launches 'Punjab Di Rooh SEWA Grant' project for rural youth

MERA PIND 360 Foundation launches the Punjab Di Rooh SEWA Grant project to promote service and community participation among rural youth in Punjab.

Chandigarh, September 4: MERA PIND 360 Foundation on Thursday announced the launch of a unique ‘Punjab Di Rooh SEWA Grant’ project. The initiative aims to instill a spirit of service among the rural youth of Punjab.

Punjab Di Rooh SEWA Grant Project

The Foundation announced the initiative at a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club. Prominent personalities and Foundation representatives explained the purpose and logistics of the project.

The pilot project is dedicated to the memory of S. Swarn S. Bhangu, the late husband of well-known actress Gurpreet Bhangu.

The late Bhangu managed one of the MERA PIND 360 centres at Bassi Gujran in district Ropar. He was also known for a lifetime of selfless service to others.

MERA PIND 360 Foundation’s Mission

Malkiat S. Rauni, a well-known personality associated with the initiative, gave an overview of the SEWA project. He also explained the broader mission of the MERA PIND 360 Foundation.

Meanwhile, Bal Mukand Sharma, who is associated with the Foundation, explained how MERA PIND 360 centres function across rural Punjab.

The Foundation has converted the ancestral homes of several NRIs and affluent Punjabis in villages into these centres. The centres aim to support all-round human development for the benefit of villagers.

Pukhraj Bhalla and Shivinder Mahal were also present.

Facilities at MERA PIND 360 Centres

The centres offer a range of facilities and services. These include a books library, tools library, and a computer lab for IT training in in-demand skills.

The centres also focus on enhancing farmers’ income. In addition, they teach hand-craft skills to uneducated women.

They also host remote webinars and seminars for awareness and knowledge-building. Additionally, the centres run e-health check clinics.

The centres also facilitate access to various state and central government services for villagers.

Some overseas IT work has also begun for youngsters trained at these centres.

Punjab Di Rooh SEWA Project

Davinder S. Garcha detailed the logistics of the Punjab Di Rooh SEWA project.

He explained that the project has two main purposes. First, it aims to revive the spirit of ‘serving others’ among the younger generation.

Second, it aims to help young people learn project planning skills through participation in the pilot programme.

Bhupinder S. Hundal Addresses Gathering

Bhupinder S. Hundal, founder of the NGO, addressed the gathering remotely from the USA.

He thanked everyone present and encouraged NRIs to revive their ancestral village homes and serve their communities.
