Cooking has always been my passion, right from my childhood. I always love to bring novelty in my work. I got married in 1998. My mother-in-law used to make very tasty homemade atta (flour) mix and chutney/s, pickles. Then, I decided to bring packed chutney/s and pickles in the market. Eventually, I did a course of Packing from the Mitcon Institute of Management. I learnt many essential things from the course as well as harness my business skills also. I started my business by the name of Sharvari Food Products. I completed all the required legal proceedings for that. First, I got my company’s Brand name and FSI number. Differene types of homemade atta-mix such as Amboli, Thalipith bhajni (Maharastrian variety), Dhokla Mix, Moong Bhaji (Gujarathi variety) Kheer Mix (South Indian Varierty) and Wheat Atta these products are supplied into market. My family members help me a lot in this endeavour. My co-sister Rasika equally active in this business. My products are supplied to various retail outlets all over Thane. I opened my first stall in 2012 during Ganpati festival. It was set up on the road which caused me a lot of tension but it was a great success. I was overwhelmed after the grand success. I purchased two grinding machines and one packing machinery. While doing business, we have to face many challenges. I would like to share one story with you, once I had taken stall and almost all the family members fell sick with epidemic. My husband, mother-in-law, co-sister all were bedridden. Nobody was in a position to help me out. But I decided to take the challenge and worked for almost 18 hours every day alone with the help of one assistant and finished the mammoth task and finished all the orders on the stall successfully. Because of the stall, I developed close contacts with many people and got more orders in the nearby societies. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, I want to say that while running a family and performing all other tasks, you should have a side business although on a small scale, no issue. Because, over the period of time, this small scale business becomes huge and successful with your hard efforts, patience and dedication. I wish all the best to all my friends who are budding entrepreneurs.
