From one woman powerhouse to another, leave it to Vidya Balan to support a strong female voice who paints goddesses on her canvas.The actress will soon travel to Kolkata to launch contemporary artist Jayasri Burman’s book Antaryatra.\u00a0Using bright watercolours as a base and pen on the surface, Jayasri makes patterns to create the female figure , representing goddesses in various forms, strong in colour and content.In 2007, her paintings appeared as a series on stamps to commemorate International Women\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

Given that her creations have a strong , fierce and independent voice that celebrates the spirit of a woman in all her glory, Vidya has been invited as the Guest of Honour at Jayasri\u2019s book launch.<\/p>\n

Says a source , “The publishers and Jayasri wanted a woman of
\nsubstance at the launch, as Jayasri\u2019s work speaks of no less and the only person they could think of was Vidya Balan ,who has always championed the cause of woman empowerment.She was extremely happy to lend her support when she was approached for this and will travel to Kolkata on the 19th to launch the book at the Birla Academy of Fine Arts .”<\/p>\n
